Area Stores Carry Product Lines

Some local, independently-owned stores that are part of a national chain will continue carrying brands the corporate-owned stores are dropping. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Sears Holdings Corporation will no longer carry appliances by Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid and Jenn-Air in its Sears stores. However, many area locations are locally owned and do business through separate distributors, permitting them to carry some appliances by those brands. Owners and management of the independently-owned stores in Somerset, Middlesborough and Harlan, as well as Corbin and London have indicated they will continue carrying items from those brands. According to the Wall Street Journal, Sears Holdings Corporation ended its partnership with the brands due to “a pricing dispute and changing market dynamics.”
