A Knox County woman will face charges after allegedly stabbing another woman. The incident happened at a residence on KY 223 in the Dewitt community. Deputy Claude Hudson was sent to investigate after a call about a fight in progress between two women.

While en route, Deputy Hudson was advised that one of the women was on her way to Barbourville ARH Emergency Room with a stab wound. After arriving at the residence and interviewing witnesses, Deputy Hudson learned that a woman, identified as 34-year-old Michelle Shawn Gray, of Flat Lick, was arguing with another woman when the argument turned physical. During the fight, Gray allegedly pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the other woman in the arm.

Gray was arrested and charged with Second-Degree Assault as well as Tampering With Physical Evidence and then lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.


Authorities are looking for a stolen utility trailer with an ATV that was strapped on it. The sheriff’s office in Laurel County says an unknown suspect took the black Utility trailer along with a green Polaris Razor with yellow stripes that was sitting on the trailer. They were taken on Monday from a location off Somerset Road west of London between 7:30 AM and 10:00 AM. The sheriff’s office says the suspect left headed westbound.

Anyone with any information about the theft or suspect is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 606-864-6600. All information will be strictly confidential.


A portion of the interstate is going to be closed down in Rockcastle County next week.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, I-75 northbound at exit 62 will be closed to traffic beginning at 9:00 PM next Monday evening. It will reopen by 6:00 AM next Tuesday morning. Traffic will detour from Mount Vernon exit 62 and then rejoin I-75 at Berea exit 76. Then the following night, I-75 southbound will be closed from 9:00 PM next Tuesday evening until 6:00 AM next Wednesday morning. Traffic will be detoured that night from Berea exit 76 and then rejoin I-75 at Mount Vernon exit 62.

The closures will allow for demolition of the old KY 1505 bridge. A new bridge was recently constructed to replace the current structure as part of the ongoing $31 million I-75 widening project.
